Natural England
Is this an existing or new approach to measuring landscape change?:
Existing

None
Geographical unit:
Single location
Frequency of measure:
Every 11 years
Indicator:
Changes to enclosure, woodlands and buildings e.g. extent, mix, management approach
Barriers:
This is a very long term approach and changing survey methods from 1972- present mean that alterations in methods have taken place, however, the fixed point photography approach has been repeatable and illustrated visual changes at each location. Some interpretation and judgements have been required to understand the changes

Any other comments:
This is a national scale dataset but the approach has been a successful one and a further update of the work is occurring.
Data source:
Fixed point photography and survey work, initial phases used consultation with farming community
