High Weald AONB Landscape condition monitoring by drone

Description:
In 2014 High Weald AONB began to pilot an approach of using a drone to with an onboard camera and GPS to fly for a short period at a set altitude and take a 360 degree panorama of the surrounding landscape using three cameras attached to the bottom of the drone. The aim was to capture data regarding landscape patterns including enclosure and woodland that could be assessed against existing datasets e.g. aerial photography or historic mapping, to help understand landscape change.
