UK Ladybird Survey

Description:
The UK Ladybird Survey aims to encourage the recording of all species of ladybird found within the UK. A simple smartphone app helps people identify which species they wish to record and takes a GPS reading to enable an accurate record of location. The app records basic information including the number of ladybirds, the habitat and there is an option to upload an image. The resulting data is used by CEH to gain an understanding of the distribution of different ladybird species across the country. In return the app is informative and quick to use enabling a two way knowledge exchange which makes the approach engaging.
