Countryside Quality Counts (CQC) is a project to develop a national indicator of how the countryside is changing. It is funded by The Countryside Agency LAR division, in partnership with Defra RDS, English Nature and English Heritage. Countryscape has been responsible for the project’s national consultation and communications activity, while analysis and assessment has been undertaken by the University of Nottingham.
The consultation was carried out in the autumn of 2005 and 2006 via the CQC website, which contains a wealth of background information and resources, as well as the consultation tool itself – an interactive application, which guides users through a step-by-step process to record their comments. An updated indicator of change is due for delivery at the end of 2006.
Please note: prior to this work, Countryscape managed the launch event for the results of the previous round of CQC assessment (held at the Royal Geographical Society, 2004). This work involved the selection of an appropriate venue; development of an invitation list and online registration form; production of invitation letters, badges and handouts.
