The Landscape Character Network (LCN) is an informal network, free to join and open to anyone with an interest in Landscape Character Assessment (LCA) and its applications. The network is funded by The Countryside Agency and has been managed by Countryscape since 2002 (a contract we have been awarded twice in succession).
Central to this work has been the development of a large 200+ page website, which functions as the UK’s foremost hub of LCA information – offering downloadable guidance, case studies, workshop proceedings, a discussion forum and many other resources. The website also houses the national Database of LCA in England, which can be searched via an interactive map.
In addition, Countryscape is charged with developing the LCN logo, brand identity and communications strategy; editing and publishing a regular electronic newsletter (‘LCN News’); organising and facilitating a series of topical workshops; developing publicity materials and managing media relations.
