Countryside Quality Counts (CQC) is a project to develop a national indicator of how the countryside is changing. It is funded by Natural England, in partnership with Defra and English Heritage. Countryscape has been responsible for national consultation and communications for the current phase of the project (which covers the years 1998-2003), while analysis and assessment has been undertaken by the University of Nottingham.
The current phase of CQC consultation was carried out in 2005/2006 via the project’s website. A custom-made, interactive tool was designed especially for this purpose, guiding users through a step-by-step process to record their comments. The success of the consultation is noted in the final report of the current phase of assessment.
Other work for CQC has included the development of a brand identity and communications strategy; media relations in support of the consultation; and the production of publications including leaflets, maps and reports.
Prior to the current phase of CQC work, Countryscape managed the launch event for the results of the previous phase (covering the period 1990-1998), held at the headquarters of the Royal Geographical Society in 2004.
