Landscape Modelling

Countryscape uses the latest techniques, software and data to build spatial models that can be used to explore possible future landscapes. Landscape models are an ideal test-bed for studying environmental processes – for example, identifying opportunities for change, or anticipating the results of planning decisions. Model outputs can be used to create maps and visualisations of landscape scenarios, which are an effective way of communicating key results without being overly prescriptive.

For landscape models to be practically usable, it is important that they reflect the views of stakeholders. In response to this, Countryscape develops models that can be clearly guided by user input and are sufficiently flexible to explore a wide range of different scenarios. In addition, our design team is able to enhance the accessibility of landscape models by creating user-interfaces that are both intuitive and engaging.

Countryscape has developed landscape models for clients including Manchester City Council and The Countryside Agency. We are currently developing a habitat creation opportunity model for the Countryside Council for Wales.
